Replacement Glass Units
Failed or misted double glazing does not mean a whole new window. In most cases we can replace just the glass unit, in the existing frame.
Why replace a failed or misty glass unit?
A double glazed unit works because of the sealed cavity of insulating gas between its panes. When that seal fails, the gas escapes and moisture gets in. The frame can look perfectly sound while the glazing has stopped performing entirely.
Replacing the sealed unit rather than the whole window is quicker, cleaner and considerably cheaper — and it restores the thermal performance you paid for in the first place.
What a failed unit costs you
Heat loss
Escaping gas means the window no longer stops heat from leaving your rooms.
Higher bills
Your heating system must work harder to keep your home warm.
Trapped condensation
Fog or moisture between the glass panes cannot be wiped away.
Damp & mould
Ongoing moisture can spread to window frames and walls, causing unhealthy mould growth.
Misted glass
Misted glass makes a house look old and lowers its visual appeal.

Common questions
Can you replace the glass without replacing the frame?
In most cases, yes. If the frame and hardware are sound, we can measure and replace the sealed unit on its own — which is quicker and considerably cheaper than a new window.
Can misted glass be cleaned?
No. The moisture is trapped inside the sealed cavity, between the two panes, so it cannot be wiped away from either side. Once a unit has misted, the seal has failed and the unit needs replacing.
